Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) in Ohio

What Is a Partial Hospitalization Program?

A partial hospitalization program (PHP) is the next step in addiction recovery after inpatient rehab, and offers a balance between the round-the-clock care of inpatient hospitalization and the independence of outpatient care. At The Recovery Village Columbus, PHP gives patients the medical assistance they need while they build critical skills for sobriety.

Am I ready to enter the PHP?

If any of these apply to you, your clinical team may recommend a transition to PHP as part of your care.

  • I’ve completed medical detoxification and/or residential care
  • I need daily rehab, but not inpatient care
  • I live with co-occurring mental health disorders
  • I want help transitioning to a normal, daily routine after rehab

What to Expect In Our PHP

Following inpatient treatment, a PHP schedule is the first step toward independent living and getting back to a normal life.

Generally, PHP patients will complete 18–20 hours of evidence-based treatment per week, 5–7 days weekly. Our medical staff addresses your physical, mental and social needs to craft a therapeutic plan filled with evidence-based therapies and holistic options to grow your recovery each day.

Thank you to the entire team! My recovery journey felt supported every step.
The Recovery Village of Columbus taught me many skills to live my life to the fullest! The facilitator and counselors are great, the kitchen staff is phenomenal, and nursing staff are attentive to your needs. There are some procedures that need some work, but overall a great place.
I was very nervous when I first got inthere, but I was made to feel like I was in a safe place right away. Most of the staff are laid back, and easy to get along with. They show that they are willing to give you freedoms until you prove you are a danger to yourself or others. Do not do that and your time there should be pleasant and life changing. I honestly believe you get what you put in. So if you can become a part of the community, and share, honestly and openly about your experiences, fears, and feelings, just be real, and you will walk away with skills to help you manage your life , for the rest of your life. If you continue to practice them after you are discharged is up to you.
The staff was very nice, helpful, and understanding. Went above and beyond what I would have expected to help me get into Treatment. And I am on my way now.... and can't wait to get there !!
Some of the most AMAZING people I have ever had the chance of encountering. Super attentive and very intentional. They understand that it is DEEPER than just treatment. It's about community and from what I see they have a strong one..My stay at this facility changed my life FOREVER...I can't say enough about the staff and the way they constantly and consistently handled me on daily basis, with so much care..My life will forever be changed because of what I was able to learn there. If you are SERIOUS about your recovery then Recovery Village is definitely the place to be.. But make sure you are ABSOLUTELY SERIOUS about your recovery because if you're not then the only person you're gonna fool is YOU!!
Response from the owner:Thank you for your kind words! We’re so glad you felt the sense of community and intentional care that we strive to provide. Recovery is about more than treatment, and it’s wonderful to know our team made a meaningful impact. Wishing you continued success and strength on your journey!

FAQs About Our
Partial Hospitalization Program

Is drug or alcohol detox included?

Medical detox is not provided as part of a PHP. Individuals who need medical detox can complete that program separately before starting the PHP phase of treatment.

Will I be forced to stay in rehab during PHP?

Leaving treatment early often leads to relapse and overdose, so we always encourage clients to complete their treatment plan in full. However, clients may leave treatment, even against medical advice, at any time as long as they are not a danger to themself or others. The partial hospitalization program is also available as an online teletherapy program for those who are cleared to start at this level of care.

Do partial hospitalization programs work?

Yes, PHPs help clients transition from the intensive environment of inpatient treatment to living on their own in outpatient care. It ensures clients get the right balance of medical care and independence at a critical stage. Without a smooth transition, patients may have an increased risk of relapse, overdose and other difficult outcomes.

How can I pay for PHP?

Insurance may cover some or all of a patient’s PHP stay. Copays and meeting deductibles may still be involved. Without insurance, The Recovery Village Columbus can discuss a private payment plan with you.

Will I lose my job if I go to rehab?

There are several laws in place that protect employees when they attend rehab.

Will I lose my kids if I go to rehab?

Treating your addiction is the best way to create a better future for your children. While there are no guarantees you’ll maintain child custody, completing rehab to reduce the negative effects of addiction on your life may make you more likely to keep your children.
